Howard and Paula Lyon of Sugar Grove celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 11, 2012, with suprise anniversary party at the Lander Fire Hall in Lander, Pa. The celebration was hosted by their children: Howie Jr. and Tina Kaye Lyon of Jamestown, N.Y., Tammy and Terry Simmons of Sugar Grove, Pa., and Tina Lyon of Willoughly, Ohio. They have five grandchildren: Tara Simmons and TJ Simmons, both of Sugar Grove, Pa., Josh Volk and Hunter Lyon, both of Jamestown, N.Y., and Heather Lyon of Lakewood, N.Y. They also have a great-grandson, Cameron Lyon of Lakewood, N.Y.
Lyon and the former Paula Covell were married Dec. 16, 1961, at the home of the bride in Jamestown, N.Y. The Rev. Keith Perry of Grace E.U.B. Church performed the ceremony.
Lyon is retired from Akzo Coatings Inc. He is a life member of the Falconer Rod and Gun Club and the Jamestown Moose. He had also been a member of the Jamestown Area Bowling Association. Mrs. Lyon is also retired and had been employed by the former Fluvanna Super Duper and Thoren's of Warren.
