Jamestown is a city that belongs to all of its citizens. It is the goal of the Community Diversity Action Team to encourage and to increase representation and participation in all facets of community life from the whole spectrum of our wonderfully diverse and varied populace.
From city government and committees to board leadership to involvement with serving and helping agencies as well as employment issues and opportunities, we want our community both to be accessible to all as well as to benefit from the unique and important perspectives of all of our city's constituent groups.
Co-chaired by Max Martin of the Eastside YMCA and the Rev. Thomas A. Sweet of the First Presbyterian Church, a variety of cluster gatherings, educational opportunities, training programs, and listening sessions have been and will be scheduled among various social, religious, and demographic groups in Jamestown to facilitate greater openness in our common life.
The Community Diversity Action Team wants our city to "work" for everyone and toward that end will promote and facilitate pathways to greater understanding, involvement, and inclusion among and between people of differing social and economic circumstances, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, religions, and ages in our city.
We want to "open up" leadership and participation in Jamestown to all who make their home, work, go to school, or visit here as a way of enhancing every aspect of this community we all share.
