Kristin Mekjean Acker, Program Manager for Gustavus Adolphus Family Services Therapeutic Foster Care Program in West Seneca and Brandi Myers, Certified Nursing Assistant in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center (LHRC) were honored as the 2011 Employees of the Year at Lutheran Social Services.
"Because our senior and youth programs are so diverse, this year we chose two outstanding employees one from long term care and one from GA Family Services," said Tom Holt, LSS president and CEO.
The Employees of the Year were selected from the twelve employees of the month at LHRC and GA. The announcement was made at the 16th annual Employee of the Month Recognition Luncheon. "You are the positive voices here at LSS," said Holt. "We have experienced a lot of exciting and sometimes challenging times in both our senior and youth programming. Your commitment to our residents, children and families never falters every day you provide a rewarding lifestyle for those we serve and for that we recognize and honor you today. We also want to thank the Carlson Family for their ongoing support of this important program."
Shelly Quackenbush, administrative assistant at LHRC, highlighted the positive qualities that Brandi Myers exhibits every day. "Brandi has grown in her position as a C.N.A. She is a strong advocate for our residents and always makes sure their best interests are a priority. She is highly respected by her coworkers, and is a patient teacher and mentor to new employees. We are so proud of her for being a shining example of a caring professional."
Words of praise for Kristin were shared by Maggie Dreyer, Director of Community Services for the Foster Care Program. "No matter what is needed, Kristin works above and beyond to serve our youth and families. She interacts well with all levels of staff in a courteous, friendly and helpful manner. She is always there with a smile and enthusiasm to motivate her team. Kristin is a great ambassador and advocate for those we serve and has earned this outstanding recognition." She said.
The Employee of the Month/Year program is supported by Richard and Shirley Carlson and Marc and his wife, Jacqueline Carlson, in memory of their son and brother, Richard D. "Rick" Carlson, who passed away in 2005. He had been a long time resident at the Lutheran Home.
In appreciation for the compassionate care their son received while at LSS, the family wanted a way to give back to and honor exceptional employees.
