Mayville Senior Citizens Install New Officers

December 20, 2011
The Post-Journal

Seventy-four members of the Mayville Senior Citizens met on Dec. 1 for their Christmas luncheon. A Swiss steak dinner, prepared by the VFW Auxiliary under the direction of Tim Brown, was served after Chaplain Dianne Goodrich asked a blessing for the group and the food.

President Joyce Ayers conducted a short business meeting with Izetta Ayling, secretary, and Edna Brown, treasurer, giving their reports. Jeff Wagner, senior council representative, had no report. Goodwill chair Mary Carlson listed those with December birthdays and anniversaries. Trip co-chairs Sandy Anderson and Jean Kelsey stated the deposit for the March trip to see ''Jonah'' was due. The balance would be due on Feb. 20.

A collection was taken for a needy family.

Dianne Goodrich conducted the installation of officers: Joyce Ayers, president; Fran Miller, first vice; Sandy Anderson, second vice; Izetta Aylins, secretary, with Mary Carlson, assistant; and Edna Brown, treasurer, with Bonnie Johnson, assistant. Committee chairs are Louise Richer, kitchen; Jeff Wagner, senior council; Bill Tornstrom, program; and Mary Carlson, goodwill. Sandy Anderson and Jean Kelsey will do trips.

A program was given by the music department of Chautauqua Lake Central School. The group of about 25 students delighted the seniors with a selection of Christmas carols and holiday music.

Naomi Wiler won the lottery and door prizes were won by Eleanor Cornelius and Elaine Winton.

The next meeting of the Mayville Senior Citizens will be Jan. 5 at noon in the Mayville VFW. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and their own table service.
