Ronald and Laura Mohr of Ripley, N.Y., and Satsuma, Fla., formerly of North Amherst, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 16, 2011, at Vikings Lake Park in Maple Springs, N.Y., on Chautauqua Lake. The celebration was hosted by their children: Jerry Mohr and wife Alison Mohr of Tonawanda, N.Y.; Derek Mohr and wife Liza Mohr of Clarence, N.Y.; and Heidi Mohr and husband Dan Cassidy of Amherst, N.Y.; along with help from the couple's siblings: Norma Watson, Melanie Folts, Janice Spitz, Donna Carlson, Greg Mohr, and Ray and Luella Jones. They also have six grandchildren: Shawn and Cheyenne Mohr of Tonawanda, N.Y.; Charlotte, Grace and Eli Mohr of Clarence, N.Y.; and Katerine Cassidy of Amherst, N.Y. Out-of-state guests attended from North Carolina, Florida, California, Pennyslvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio and Connecticut.
Mohr and the former Laura Ethelyn Jones were married Oct. 27, 1961, in Sugar Grove Methodist Church, Sugar Grove, Pa. The Rev. Edwin F. Armitage performed the ceremony.
Mohr is a retired processing/chemical engineer from Carborundum Coated Abrasives in Wheatfield, N.Y. Mrs. Mohr is a retired bus driver from National School Bus in Amherst, N.Y. She also worked in food service at the University at Buffalo. They are active members of the North Amherst Fire Hall and the Niagara Frontier Fiddle Club.
