Ralph and Nancy Johnsen of Gerry, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 19, 2011, with a family dinner at LaScala Restaurant in Jamestown, N.Y. The celebration was hosted by their daughters and families: Christine (R. Bradley) Heitzenrater of Gerry, N.Y.; Lisa (Vance) Lutgen of Dewittville, N.Y.; and Julie (Christopher) O'Brien of Jamestown, N.Y. They also have seven grandchildren: Melissa (Jeremy) Heitzenrater-Beichner of Westfield, N.Y.; Daniel and Brandon Heitzenrater of Gerry, N.Y.; Timothy and Marcus Lutgen of Dewittville, N.Y.; and Cordell and Jenna O'Brien of Jamestown, N.Y.
Johnsen and the former Nancy Johnson were married Aug. 19, 1961, in St. John Roman Catholic Church, Jamestown, N.Y. The Rev. Austin Bellario performed the ceremony.
Johnsen is a retired pattern maker from Weber Knapp Company. Mrs. Johnsen is a retired bookkeeper from the town of Gerry. They are members of Our Lady of Loreto Roman Catholic Church.
