Mayville Scouts Seek Donations

October 5, 2011
The Post-Journal

MAYVILLE - Cub Scouts of Pack 126 are cleaning out closets, garages and toy boxes to find items to donate for their upcoming rummage and bake sale on Friday and Saturday in the St. Mary of Lourdes Church's fellowship hall, 24 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville.

The pack is asking for the help of community members to donate gently used clothing for families, as well as toys, books, household and kitchen items, sports equipment, old jewelry, linens, small appliances and furniture for the sale.

"Webelos II scouts work together on fundraisers throughout the year to fund a trip to Gettysburg National Military Park over Memorial Day weekend," said Rennae Majka, den leader. "Our Scouts and their families have held can drives, sold hot dogs at Mayville's 4th of July parade, and served a pancake breakfast at Applebee's.''

The rummage and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Homemade baked goods will be available along with freshly brewed coffee.

"The Gettysburg trip is a highlight of the Cub Scouting experience and we're very thankful for the support of our community," said Mike Martin, assistant den leader. "We are hoping for lots of donations and a very busy sale."

Donations will be accepted. For more information, call Melissa Sanden at 269-2019.

Pack 126 welcomes all boys in first through fifth grades to join Cub Scouts. Anyone interested can attend the next pack meeting, which will focus on Disabilities and Donor Awareness, at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Chautauqua Lake Central School cafeteria.
