Melendez — Scroggins

Amber Nicole Scroggins and Alesandro Jese Melendez exchanged wedding vows on June 25, 2011, at Minnesota Avenue Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kansas City, Kan. Aaron Gallegos, representative of the Watch Tower, Bible and Tract Society, performed the ceremony. Music was provided by Jackie Burciaga and Arleen Burciaga, harpists. The bride was escorted by her father.

The bride is the daughter of Kenneth and Kathleen Scroggins of St. Joseph, Mo. Her husband is the son of Jose and Linda Melendez of Portland, N.Y.

The bride wore a princess-style, ivory satin wedding gown with trumpet skirt and train, accented by a large, starburst organza bow at the front waist and self-covered buttons down the length of the dress back.

Kali Hudspeth was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Volner, Casey Rooker, Kari Meints and Heather Martin.

Best man was Pedro Matorell. Groomsmen were Manolo Solis, Obed Morales and Josiah Melendez, brother of the groom.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph. She is self-employed as a medical transcriptionist and a certified ESL educator. She is also a minister for the Poniente Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her husband is a 2004 graduate of Brocton Central School, received his associate degree in science and studio arts from Jamestown Community College, and is 2010 graduate of the Watch Tower Ministerial Training School. He is employed as an elementary ESL teaching assistant for the Kansas City Public School System and minister for the Poniente Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

They honeymooned in Jamaica.

They are living in Kansas City, Kan.
