Sustainability Course Scheduled
You 2 Can Understand Sustainability, an online non-credit course, will be offered through Jamestown Community College this summer. Tuition is $99. A face-to-face meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, in JCC's Carnahan Center will familiarize students on how to log on to the course. The course instructor will discuss current environmental topics and student expectations. Topics will include rainforest plants and animals, environmental organizations, and world issues. The course is ideal for elementary and middle school science teachers preparing for next year's lessons. To register, call JCC at 338-1005.
Rural Ministry To Host Course
DUNKIRK - The Chautauqua County Rural Ministry will host ''Composting 101'' from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 26 in the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry Friendly Kitchen, 131 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The workshop will offer the basics of composting from soil dynamics, basic nutrients and practical how-to guides. The goal is to provide basic information to help people better understand their environment and improve soil. To register, contact the ministry at 366-1787.
Anthem?Singers Needed For Series
The Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series committee is looking for individuals interested in singing The National Anthem for games to be held Aug. 20-27. This will be the 15th time the Jamestown World Series Committee has hosted a World Series since 1980. This year's tournament will involve players between the ages of 13 and 15. YMCA?To Host Fitness Program
Summer Fun Fitness, a six-week fitness program for youth between the ages of 5 and 12, will be offered at the Jamestown YMCA on Saturday mornings starting July 9. Advance registration is required and can be done online at www.jamestownymca.org or by visiting the Jamestown YMCA at 101 E. Fourth St. Youth between the ages of 5 and 7 will meet from 9 to 9:50 a.m. with youth ages 8 to 12 meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. All classes will be non-competitive with an emphasis on fun. The classes are designed to instill confidence through new challenges and experiences with the goal of increasing the child's self-awareness, strength, and coordination. Loose comfortable clothing and gym shoes are recommended attire. Participants who attend all six weeks will be entered into a prize drawing.
