WCA's 2011 Employee Giving Campaign, entitled "We Are WCA," kicked off with a bang as WCA employees premiered their original Conga video recently.

This video can be seen on YouTube by following the link at the top of WCA Hospital's web site at www.wcahospital.org.

"This was our way to prepare for our Employee Giving Campaign, while letting people know that WCA is a great place to work and to be treated," said Dianne French, Director of Health Information Management at WCA Hospital and one of the volunteer campaign leaders. "We are sure that those within the WCA Family, from our community, and from around the world will not only see how much fun we had filming, but also how much we need them to stand beside us to support our capital campaign. We hope it goes viral on YouTube."

The creative ideas for "We Are WCA" and the Conga video were birthed by employees in an effort to raise funds for Sharing the Gift of Health: The Capital Campaign for Our Emergency Department. The overall goal of the 2011 Employee Giving Campaign is to engage all WCA employees to actively participate in a friendly competition over a three-week period in order to have fun, increase enthusiasm, and most importantly, raise critical funds to support WCA Hospital and its capital campaign effort.

WCA Hospital, by department, and WCA Services employees have been divided into four different color multidisciplinary teams (red, green, yellow and blue with more than 300 employees per team) and are competing to see who will have the greatest levels of participation. Each week, these four teams are competing in cumulative challenges including total number of employee donors, total dollars raised, and ultimately based upon percentage of team participation.

In May 2010, during the inaugural WCA Employee Giving Campaign, "The Amazing Race to Our New Emergency Department", nearly 400 employees personally donated/pledged more than $190,000. This included 54 employees who joined "Club 26" - they contributed an amount equal to or greater than one hour of pay per pay period for at least 26 pay periods/one year.

WCA HOSPITAL'S 21ST CENTURY

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

The deconstruction of the existing South Building, to make way for the new emergency department, along with additional site work has been completed and full project financing has been secured, enabling WCA Hospital to be under full construction this spring.

This 21st Century Emergency Department will minimize patient treatment times, decrease throughput and admission times, improve efficiency and collaboration, enhance physician recruitment efforts, and meet the present day and the increasing future emergency care demands of the Chautauqua Region.

With great advances in space and privacy, WCA Hospital's new 18,000 square foot Emergency Department will dramatically improve the overall patient experience.

To date, WCA has surpassed the 80 percent mark by securing over $13.4 million toward the campaign's $16.5 million capital campaign goal and is accepting gifts and pledges payable through 2013. To make a gift to support Sharing the Gift of Health: The Capital Campaign for Our Emergency Department, please contact Karl Sisson, WCA Director of Development, at 716-664-8423 or visit WCA Hospital's website at wcahospital.org.
