Mid-June, as high school classes are coming to an end, and before everyone scatters for the Summer, SWHS staff and students will be filling bags and boxes with library books to take home for the summer.
Again this year, the staff will be checking out books, magazines and audiobooks for July and August. They invite all students and staff members to come in and stock up for summer reading!
The staff has a great collection of popular and classic fiction, and lots of best-selling nonfiction, including conditioning and methods books and DVDs for many sports. The audiobook collection includes almost all of the required reading titles for English classes, besides others.
Some AP and Advanced courses have required and/or recommended summer reading. The staff can help with those booklists. Many students and teachers want reading entertainment for the summer, while some want to learn something about history, physics, or the world around them.
Teachers, the staff can help with that professional reading you've been meaning to catch up on, too!
Last year, the SWHS staff checked out nearly 300 books for the summer and would like to double that for this summer. Any student or staff member who has no outstanding library books or fines is welcome to check out as many as 10 items for the summer. All summer checkouts will be due Sept. 9.
