HORSEHEADS - The Flyers gymnasts participated recently in the Elmira Spring Fling competition.
First-place winners were Alexandra Stone, of level 4, with a 9.4 on the bars, Emily Pfleuger, of level 5, who won the beam competition with a score of 9.4, and Taylor Brightman, of level 6, who finished tops in the floor exercise with a 9.45.
Stone, who competed at level 4 for 9-11 year olds, finished 10th in the floor (8.75) and the all-around (35.825). In the 6-8 year old group of the same level, Olivia Ekstrom scored a 9.35 in the vault and 8.6 in the floor exercise, both good enough for sixth place. She finished seventh in the all-around with a 34.975.

For level 5 in the 11-year-old division, Alexa Ruiz claimed 10th in the bars (8.7), seventh in the beam (9.025), fifth in the floor (9.2) and ninth in the all-around (34.975).
In the 13 and older age group, Kelsey Smith scored an 8.7 on the vault, good for fourth place, and later scored an 8.35 on the bars, which was good enough for sixth.
At the same age group, Keeley McWilliams earned personal-best scores on both the bars, 7.6, and the all-around, 32.05. She also finished seventh on the beam.
In the level 6, in the 8- and 9-year-old age group, Rachel Ward earned third place in the vault with a 9.4, sixth place on the beam with a 9.1 and sixth in the all-around with a 39.975. Samantha Gilbert scored personal bests of 9.05 and 8.6 on the vault and bars, respectively.
Brightman, in the 10- and 11-year old age group, captured third in the vault (9.325), 10th in the bars (8.3), eighth on the beam (9.0) and seventh in the all-around (36.075). Rounding out competitors in level 6 was Mariana Waite, who notched personal bests on the vault with an 8.6 and the all-around with a 33.45.
Jennifer Roof, competing at level 7, claimed sixth on the beam and scored a 33.20 all-around.
At level 8, 14-year-old and up, Mackenzie Wright took third on the vault, 8.0 on the bars, sixth on the beam and sixth all-around while teammate Mikayla Capestrani scored an 8.95 vault (fourth place), an 8.275 bars (seventh), 9.0 beam (fourth) and a 34.975 all-around (seventh).
