COUNTY AIRPORT

It was reported in Thursday's edition of The Post-Journal that the Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown receives federal funding through the Essential Air Service program. It is actually the airlines themselves which receive the subsidies, not the county. As reported, if the EAS funding were to actually be cut by Washington, the Jamestown airport would not close as a result. Such passenger traffic from airlines makes up only a fraction of the activity at the airport.
