Retiring Town Justice Julie Hewitt and current Town Justice Judy Shields share a light-hearted moment during the open house at the Town Hall in Kennedy to fete Justice Hewitt as she steps down from the bench.

Justice Hewitt thanked everyone for their support during her years as a Town Justice. Several anecdotes were told about some of the more memorable court cases over the years.

Justice Hewitt said that during her free time, she has been working on a history of the Genessee Canal system, and has done a lot of travel for that pursuit. She has been a diligent supporter of the local judicial system, and has been instrumental in obtaining several grants for the Town on Poland Court.
