"She's just wonderful!" commented a resident of the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center referring to the 2010 Employee of the Year, Rehab Tech, Nicole Abbey. "She always makes sure we're comfortable and helps out any way she can."
The Employee of the Year is selected from the 12 employees of the month at the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center. The announcement was made at the 15th annual Collection of Positive People Employee of the Month Recognition Luncheon.
"What a great day this is," said Tom Holt, LSS president and chief executive officer. "You are all shining examples of the excellence we strive for every day and we are here to offer our sincere congratulations. We thank the Carlson Family for their ongoing support of this important program, honoring all of you who make this a great place to live and work."
Shelly Quackenbush, administrative assistant and member of the COPP Team highlighted the positive qualities that Ms. Abbey exhibits every day.
"Nicole places the needs of the residents first. She is willing to do what it takes to complete the tasks at hand. She knows each and every one of our residents, is a gifted listener, and is sincere and compassionate. She is highly respected by residents and staff alike. You may spot her transporting residents, but you better look fast to catch a glimpse. Because of her continual and tireless efforts, our residents receive the rehab therapy required for a better quality of life."
"This comes as a complete surprise," Ms. Abbey said. "I feel I'm just doing my job. I love working with the residents and my coworkers. It's rewarding to make a difference and develop relationships with the residents we care for. It's an honor to be part of the Lutheran Family."
The Employee of the Month/Year program is supported by Richard and Shirley Carlson and Marc and his wife, Jacqueline Carlson, in memory of their son and brother, Richard D. "Rick" Carlson, who passed away in 2005. He had been a long time resident at the Lutheran Home. In appreciation for the compassionate care their son received while at LSS, the family wanted a way to give back to and honor exceptional employees.
