STW Plans Energy Conference

SALAMANCA - An energy management conference is being planned by the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.

"Energy Management for Local Governments: Understanding Energy Options with Regards to Cost-savings, Sustainability, Planning and Policy Creation" will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Center for Regional Excellence.

The conference is also being held today in Allegany County.

Each conference will include presentations and questions and answers on energy policy, creation with specific municipal examples, current and upcoming state energy programs, state Department of Environmental Conservation Climate Smart Communities, energy audits. Speakers include Stephanie Simons of the state energy research and development authority; Mark Lowry, climate policy analyst for the state DEC, Wayne Balas, energy engineer with C.J. Brown energy, and Chris Carrick, energy policy expert. Education credits will be offered if requested.

The event costs $10 to attend for members of STW's Community Assistance Program and $15 for non-members.
