Leland and Helen Sperry of Lakewood, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 24, 2010, with the renewal of their vows and a reception hosted by their children: Russell and Debra Confer of Spring Mills, Pa., Daniel and Nancy Sperry of Powder Spring, Ga., Darcy Sperry of Graham, N.C., and Darren and Louise Sperry of Canton, Ga. They also have eight grandchildren: Kyler, Michael, Kolton and Quentin Confer, and Joshua, Jessica, Logan and Emma Sperry. Members of the original wedding party in attendance were: William Sperry, Kathryn (Matson) Donnelly, Mary Lou (Matson) Cutler and Linda (Matson) Cota. Out-of-state guests attended from Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona.
Sperry and the former Helen Elizabeth Matson were married on July 23, 1960, in the Norwood Methodist Church, Norwood, N.Y.
Sperry is retired from the U.S. Forest Service. Mrs. Sperry is retired from Lutheran Social Services. They are members of the Lakewood United Methodist Church.
