The Republican half of the County Legislature will again be opening themselves to questions from the public, this time in southern Chautauqua County.
The legislature's majority caucus announced this week that the second of its two scheduled town hall meetings will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1. All county residents are encouraged to attend to ask questions of their legislators, express opinions or bring concerns regarding county government and its operations.
In April, after taking majority in Mayville, new party leader John Runkle, R-Stockton, outlined the party's goals and objectives for The Post-Journal - one of which was to hold two such public forums to meet with county residents.
Republican leaders will also be discussing their goals and objectives for the future at the meeting.
"We are holding this meeting because we feel that it is important to periodically make ourselves available in open public forums so that people will be able to say what is on their minds regarding county government," Runkle said. "We want and need their input."
The previous public meeting held by the county's Republican Caucus was in Dunkirk in June. For coverage of that meeting as well as The Post-Journal's articles from April about the party's goals, view this story online at www.post-journal.com.
