CHAUTAUQUA - The Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet dancers, with artistic director Monika Alch, will return to the Chautauqua Institution grounds tonight at 7 p.m. to perform in the Family Entertainment Series in Lenna Hall.
The Family Entertainment Series features free performances each Tuesday evening during the Chautauqua season. The series appeals to family members of all ages by providing fun, interactive entertainment ranging from music to mime, puppetry, dance and much more.
The CRYB dancers will perform classical ballet variations including excerpts from ''La Bayadere'' and the much-loved ''The Dying Swan.'' Performers will include Brittany Bush, who is a CRYB graduate now majoring in ballet at The Dance Conservatory at Purchase College. Other performers will include Molly Marsh, Brittney Pearson, Kym Paterniti and Gina Smeragliuolo.
Jordan Leeper, a CRYB graduate who is now an apprentice with the North Carolina Dance Theatre, will also perform a solo on the program. CRYB will also feature some of its younger students in a ballet version of ''I Feel Pretty'' from West Side Story, choreographed by Molly Marsh.
For this event, patrons coming from off the Chautauqua Institution grounds may obtain a free pass at the Main Gate Welcome Center Will Call window. These passes are valid from one hour before showtime until one hour after the performance ends.
CRYB is the area's premier school for classical ballet training and is located in Jamestown. It stages a full-length production of The Nutcracker each December, a Spring Gala performance and many smaller outreach performances throughout the year. Students come from throughout Chautauqua County and the neighboring Warren, Pa., area.
