The Jamestown Public Schools board is extending state retirement incentives for non-instructional civil service employees.
During a special board meeting Thursday morning, the board voted to change the resolution it approved on July 6 because more time was needed for employees to turn in paperwork.
"What we didn't realize in establishing that 30-day window, which is what the district had decided on, under the ERS rules anybody who was targeted to be allowed to retire and get the incentive, had to have the paperwork to the retirement system 14 days before the time they retired," said Karen Briner-Peterson, director of human resources. "This really constricted the period of time that we had intended."
The board set a date of Aug. 6 for an Aug. 21 effective retirement date for these employees, under the Chapter 105 Part A plan offered by the state.
