Vincent Robert Regan, 84, of Raleigh, N.C., passed away July 27, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Vince was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Feb. 23, 1926, to Margaret and John Regan. He was married to his wife, Tess, on Jan. 28, 1950, and together they raised 14 children in Levittown, Pa., and Jamestown, N.Y., before retiring and moving to Raleigh, N.C., in 1994. Vince and Tess were married for 52 years, and his wife passed away in 2002.
Vince is survived by seven sons and six daughters; 33 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His sons are: Raymond of Raleigh, N.C., Robert and wife, Cynthia Clark of Evanston, Ill., David and wife, Sarah of Raleigh, N.C., Roger of Raleigh, NC., John and wife, Michele Coyne of Cortland Manor, N.Y., Michael and wife, Sheri of Raleigh, N.C., and Matthew and wife. Shilpa of Southern Pines, N.C.; daughters: Teresa Maness and husband, Jeffrey of Durham, N.C., Patricia Price and husband, Dennis of Princeton, N.J., Kathleen Ecklund and husband, David of Cary, N.C., Eileen Shupe and husband, Bradford of Greenville, Tenn., Deborah Hodgin and husband, Robert of Raleigh, N.C., and Barbara Mangas and husband, Keith of Yardley, Pa.; and daughter-in-law, Elisabeth Regan of Raleigh, N.C.
Vince was preceded in death by his wife Tess; his parents, Margaret and John Regan; brother, David Regan; and his eldest son, Vincent D. Regan.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Vince served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Vince graduated from Villanova University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. Vince's business career spanned 43 years, highlighted by executive positions with Thiokol Chemical Corp., AVM Corp., Blackstone Corp. and American Locker Group, Inc. His work afforded him many opportunities to travel the world, including journeys to Japan, China, Korea, Spain, Sweden, Denmark and Mexico (where he survived the Mexico City earthquake of 1985!). Vince was heavily involved in community service throughout his life and was a proud member of the Raleigh Elks Lodge 735 for the last 16 years.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 31, 1 p.m. at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, N.C.
