LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT
BUSTI - Donald B. Byerley, no age given, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon Monday after police and sheriff's deputies were called to the area around the Happy Hooker bait shop and Fardink Road for reported gunshots. Byerley was allegedly found in possession of three handguns. He will be in Busti Town Court on Aug. 3.
LAKEWOOD - Ervin L. Mitchell, 40, of Jamestown was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property Tuesday after an incident at the Foot Locker store in the Chautauqua Mall. Police reported that Mitchell walked in the store with the intention of returning a pair of $125 Nike Air Jordan shoes that were purchased on June 23 with a stolen credit card. Police have issued a warrant for the person who allegedly used the stolen credit card in the first place. Mitchell will be in court on Aug. 3.
SHERMAN - Michael A. Vanevery, 25, of Mina was charged with DWI and cited for consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle July 22 after a domestic violence investigation led deputies and state troopers to find his vehicle on Clymer-Sherman Road. He was charged and released with an appearance ticket.
CHAUTAUQUA LAKE - Peter J. Saunders, 19, of Springville was charged with leaving the scene of a property-damage accident after an investigation into an incident that happened July 17. Deputies allege Saunders was operating a 23-foot recreational vessel when he collided with a 73-foot public vessel on the lake. He then allegedly fled the scene without reporting it. Through an investigation by the Sheriff's marine division, he was identified and given an appearance ticket to be in Ellery Town Court later.
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
SOUTH VALLEY - Charles David Daly Jr., 30, of Portville was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and cited for moving unsafely from the travel lane after a 3:30 a.m. accident Sunday on West Perimeter Road. Deputies report Daly's vehicle left the road and crashed near the intersection of Pierce Run Road. He will be in South Valley Court later.
SALAMANCA POLICE DEPARTMENT
SALAMANCA - Allen D. Larkin Jr., 22, and Julie M. John, 19, both of Salamanca, were charged with third-degree assault Tuesday following an incident reported at 4:44 a.m. in the city of Salamanca. They were both taken into custody and held awaiting arraignment.
SALAMANCA - Tracie M. Brown, 44, of Salamanca was taken into custody on a warrant Tuesday charging her with third-degree assault. The charge stems from a bar fight that happened at Central Lanes on July 19, police said. She was processed and released with an appearance ticket.
PENNSYLVANIA LAW ENFORCEMENT
BROKENSTRAW - According to Warren-based State Police, Timothy E. Loutzenhiser, 36, of Youngsville was arraigned before District Justice George Gregory on Saturday and charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of a minor after an incident where he allegedly inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl and exposed himself in front of her Friday while her parents were away. He was taken to the Warren County Jail and held in lieu of bail .
CONEWANGO - Conewango township police responded to a crash involving a roller in a PennDOT construction zone having been struck by a motor vehicle. Police reported Alex Berg, 19, of Warren, traveled from Route 62 onto Route 69 when he failed to see construction zone signs saying the road was closed. Police said Berg was going too fast to stop his vehicle at the point in the road where two large signs stating "Road Closed" were positioned in the center of each lane of travel. According to police, Berg's vehicle left skid marks more than 350 feet long while his vehicle fishtailed across both lanes of travel before striking a roller that was positioned in the opposite lane of travel. Police said Berg's vehicle then spun 180 degrees and the roller was pushed 10 feet. Police reported Berg sustained minor injuries and that two passengers in his vehicle were taken to Warren General Hospital by Emergycare with unknown injuries. Police said no PennDOT employees were injured. According to police, Berg has been charged with reckless driving, driving vehicle at an unsafe speed, traffic control devices, duty of driver in a construction zone and restraint systems for front seat passenger. Police said fines are also double due to construction and maintenance zone. Police reported the North Warren Volunteer Fire Department and the fire police assisted them on the scene.
CONEWANGO - Conewango township police were dispatched at 5:10 p.m. July 19 to a retail theft complaint at Wal-Mart. According to police, store personnel stopped Jamie E. Gilbert of Frewsburg, who gave employees the $39.09 worth of merchandise she had taken and then left the store. Wal-Mart employees recorded her license plate number and Gilbert was later contacted by New York State Police about the incident. Police said information was obtained on Gilbert and a citation was filed with District Justice Laura Bauer for retail theft.
CONEWANGO - According to Conewango township police, they were contacted by loss prevention of Wal-Mart at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said employees detained Jennifer Dunbar, 38, of Warren for retail theft of $24.35 worth of items. Police reported Dunbar was charged with misdemeanor retail theft based upon a prior conviction and will appear in court later.
