ELLERY - A two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on Route 430 sent one person to the hospital.

According to Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies, around 4:30 p.m., a white Chevy Impala driven by Nicole Zappia of Brocton was traveling west behind a Honda Accord driven by Aaron T. Shea of Westlake, Ohio.

Shea had stopped to turn left into the driveway of the Chedwell Club and as he proceeded to turn, Zappia, not noticing he was making the turn, struck the Honda.

Her vehicle then veered off the road, striking a culvert and coming to rest in a ditch. Shea's family, including his wife and two young children, were uninjured in the accident.

Zappia was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital by Maple Springs and Dewittville volunteer firefighters and traffic was not impacted by the collision. Deputies reported that the New York State Police also assisted at the scene.
