Paul A. Seamans

CORFU - Paul A. Seamans, 92, of Corfu, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at his residenece.

He was born in East Pembroke, the son of the late Harley Webb and Maude Loucks Seamans.

Paul was a captain in the Army and received the Bronze Star during World War II. A master biology teacher, he retired after 39 continuous years at the Nicholas School in Buffalo. Paul was very active in the community. He was a member of the Pembroke Board of Education for 15 years, a Corfu village trustee for four years, past secretary/treasurer of Pembrok-Corfu-Darien Kiwanis Club, a member of the Pembroke Historical Society, co-chairman of Brick House Corners Fair for nine years, a member of the Corfu Free Library Board and a member of the Corfu United Presbyterian Church. Paul had a very active retirement which included many cruises.

In addition, he and his wife attended many college courses. Two of his favorite hobbies, which he enjoyed doing with his wife Bea were collecting antiques and combing flea markets. Paul also had a passion for working with stained glass and offered free lessons. Through his efforts and great devotion to his wife Bea, Paul helped to purchase the first defibrillator for the Corfu Fire Department.

He was the brother of the late Harley Seamans, Gretchen Siegel, Esther Dunbar and Jean Carlson.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Beatrice Symonds Seamans; two sons: Douglas (Susan) Seamans of Falconer, and Tom (Sandy) Seamans of Corfu; two grandchildren: Amanda Seamans and Michael Seamans; one great-grandson, Conner Thomas Lucia; and one brother, Gail Seamans of Alden.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a future date. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Corfu.
