Mr. Charles R. Fluent, age 59, of Melinda Drive, Salamanca, N.Y., died unexpectedly March 19, 2010, at his home.
Born on Jan. 6, 1951, he was the son of Charles Fluent, Killbuck, N.Y., and the late Alice Mighells Fluent. He was married to the late Cheri Blasky Fluent, who predeceased him in 2009.
Mr. Fluent was a gradu-ate of Salamanca High School in 1969, received a bachelor's degree from Fredonia State College and his master's degree from St. Bonaventure University, Suma Cum Laude. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran with the United States Army Green Beret and a former prisoner of war.

Mr. Fluent walked across the country to raise money for the VFW National Children's Home located in Eaton Rapids, Mich. He performed a second walk across country for victims of September 11.
Mr. Fluent was an adopt-ed member of the Sioux In-dian Nation and performed their Sun Dance Ceremony on several occasions.
Surviving besides his fa-ther are a daughter, Judy (Michael) Taborski, Cedar Lake, Ind.; two sons, Brad-ley Fluent, Erie, Pa., and Scott Fluent, Jamestown; three brothers, Thomas Fluent, Joseph (Sandy) Fluent, Allegany, N.Y., and Michael (Carol) Fluent, Sa-lamanca; eight grandchil-dren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will im-mediately follow with the Rev. Marvin Abrams offici-ating.
Full military graveside services will be conducted by members of the Ameri-can Legion John F. Ahrens Post #535. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Bath, N.Y. E-condolences can be sent to john@orourke- orourke.com.
