Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force agents have charged a Jamestown man after a lengthy investigation into illegal drug sales in the city.
Jose R. Caceres, 54, of 96 Water St., upper apartment, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony; unlawfully growing cannibus, a misdemeanor; and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. A 21-year-old city resident was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana.
At 6:43 p.m. Thursday, the Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team executed a search warrant approved by Jamestown City Court to search the upper apartment at 96 Water St.
When police officers entered the home, a pit bull reportedly attacked SWAT team members and was killed. During the search, police officers allegedly found a handgun, 33 marijuana plants, an unspecified quantity of crack, packaged marijuana, items used to cultivate and package marijuana and scales to weigh marijuana.
Caceres was taken into custody and held awaiting arraignment.
