Jamestown fire investigators are still working to determine what sparked a blaze that damaged a Livingston Avenue home Friday morning.
Around 6 a.m., a 911 call from a neighbor reported visible flames in the kitchen area of 106 Livingston Ave., and within minutes, Jamestown firefighters were on the scene.
"It was knocked down fairly quickly and the fire never had a chance to spread to other parts of the house," said Lt. Fire Investigator Tim Glenn. "It was good that the neighbor saw it - the house can definitely be repaired."
Glenn said the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire due to a death in the family that owns it. He explained that it is not an abandoned home by any means, just currently unoccupied.
He also said that the fire department is still not ready to release the cause of the fatal fire that happened on Prospect Street on Jan. 12.
"We have a good idea about what happened there, but we are still waiting to sort some things out," Glenn said.
When cause has been determined and officially released, a full report will be published in The Post-Journal.
