Darlene and Frank Barney celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 10, 2009, at their home, the Brushwood Folklore Center, Sherman, N.Y. The celebration was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Dave Guzman, and grandson, Max. Out of state guests attended from Maine, Delaware, Florida, Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas and Australia. Also in attendance were members of the original wedding party, Ina Robinson, mother of the bride, and Edie Stansbury, sister of the groom and bridesmaid.
They were married Oct. 10, 1959, in Sherman, N.Y.
Barney served on the Sherman Board of Education and along with his family owns and operates the Brushwood Folklore Center in Sherman. Mrs. Barney is retired from the Chautauqua County Health Department and owns and operates Darlene Barney's Tax and Notary Public.
