Steamburg, N.Y. - Beverly A. Sparks Dobson, 73, of Lebanon Road, town of Coldspring, formerly of Lee, Mass., passed away Sunday morning (Jan. 3, 2010) in WCA Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1936, in East Lee, Mass., the daughter of the late Elmer T. and Frances M. Fogarty Sparks. Beverly was a 1948 graduate of Lee High School. Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was the plant manager of Agway Energy and Petroleum in Conewango Valley after 22 years of service. Earlier, she had been employed by High Fidelity Musical American Magazine as editor and chief. She was also the former owner of the Randolph Inn. Her social memberships included Randolph American Legion Post #181, Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #6533 and the Coldspring Volunteer Fire Department. Bev was a former professional horse trainer and had raised numerous thoroughbred horses. She enjoyed socializing and playing cards.
She is survived three daughters, Cheryl (Ron Finch) Vaninetti of Randolph, Stina Nielsen and Freda Nielsen; and five grandchildren, Kristy Graves of Henrietta, N.Y., Aaron Finch of Randolph, Syrena Nielsen, Miyan Nielsen and Tony Nielsen. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Dobson, and her companion, Helge ''Hoagie'' Nielsen, whom preceded her on Sept. 16, 1994.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Randolph American Legion Post #181, Jamestown Street, Randolph.
