On New Year's Eve, the Jamestown Police Department and the New York State Police teamed up to conduct sobriety checks in Jamestown as part of a national ''Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest'' campaign against drunk driving.

Police screened 470 drivers through the checkpoints and made five DWI arrests, issued 32 traffic citations, made six drug-related arrests and arrested one person on an active warrant.

Charged with driving while intoxicated were Jana D. Hunt, 42, of Ripley; Amy J. Anderson, 43, of Jamestown; James R. Comber, 33, of Jamestown; Saturnino Sanabria, 26, of Jamestown and Brandon A. Thomas, 27, Jamestown.

They will all appear in Jamestown City Court later this month.

Police also took Tracey L. Crawford, 37, of Jamestown into custody on a warrant issued by Jamestown City Court for endangering the welfare of a child. Crawford was held in the city jail with no bail pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
