Creche Inc. recently donated items on WCA Hospital's Wish List valued at more than $2,500 to benefit children and families served by WCA Hospital.
"In keeping with Creche's mission to help children in our community, we are please to donate these items to the various WCA outstanding departments that treat pediatric patients," said Marty Carcione, Creche hospital committee chair.
The donations will benefit several different departments at WCA Hospital which directly serve children, including adolescent mental health, which will receive an HD television with a DVD player; surgical pediatrics, which received a pulse oz, toys, books, videos, sippy cups, and infant clothing; speech and hearing, which received speech therapy software, books, games and worksheets; cardiology, which received a play cube; emergency, which received a pediatric thermometer and blood pressure cuffs; nutrition services, which received a cookbook, games and posters; and psychology, which received a Nintendo Wii and games.
"We are very grateful for the generosity and commitment of Creche to WCA Hospital,'' said Jacqueline Temple, WCA Hospital's speech and hearing department, speech-language pathologist. ''The items donated will be utilized by speech pathologists to provide targeted therapy to children ages 2 to 14 which will result in improved vocabulary skills, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills. The games and books provide a fun learning alternative, while helping them meet their language goals."
For more than a century, Creche has raised money to provide for needy children in Chautauqua County. Every year, in addition to helping needy children in the greater Jamestown area, the Creche Hospital Committee helps fulfill wishes from child-related departments at WCA Hospital.
