Kenny Rogers' concert scheduled for tonight at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena has been postponed to Monday because of the winter storm hitting the area.
Rogers will perform in Elmira on Saturday and West Point on Sunday before coming to Jamestown. All tickets for Friday's performance will be honored, and no refunds will be given.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace recommends no unnecessary travel today, especially in northern Chautauqua County where I-90 has been closed from Fredonia to Route 8 in Erie, Pa.
As of noon Friday, I-90 was still closed from the Dunkirk Thruway Exchange to the Pennsylvania state line and heavier than normal traffic flow was reported on Routes 5 and 20. In Pennsylvania, I-90 is still closed from the state
line all the way to Erie.
I-86 in Pennsylvania is also closed from I-90 to Exit 3 (Rt89).
No motorists are stranded on the highway in Pennsylvania, but police have been using all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles to reach those stuck on the road in western New York.
Minor traffic accidents and vehicles sliding into ditches have been reported around the county, and extreme caution is advised for anyone traveling int eh area today.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snow bands are in the northern part of the county where more than 48 inches of accumulation is expected throughout the day.
Strong winds are expected to sustain white-out conditions throughout the area although things are expected to calm down Saturday during the day.
All courts in Mayville are closed today, CARTS runs 8 and 12 in southern Chautauqua County have been canceled and CARTS runs 3, 4, 5, 6, 45 and 29 have been canceled as well.
Schools throughout the county have been canceled due to the weather, as well as the Ashville, Fluvanna, Sinclairville and Bemus Point libraries.
