Robert G. Swanson, 91, of St. Columbans Home, Silver Creek, formerly of 533 Stowe St., Jamestown, died on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, in the TLC HN Lakeshore Hospital.
Mr. Swanson was born Aug, 10, 1918, in James-town, the son of Ragnar and Sigrid Granlund Swan-son.
He was a 1936 graduate of Jamestown High School, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 2nd Amphibious Engineer-ing Brigade. He was the district manager for Win-chester Repeating Arms Corp. for 28 years retiring in 1980.
Mr. Swanson was former-ly a member of New York State and National Skeet Shooting Association, Na-tional Rifle Association, and National Amateur Trap Shooting Association.
Surviving are a son, Robert R. (Carol) Swanson of Silver Creek; a daughter, Louise Swanson of James-town; two grandchildren: Specialist 1st Class Sven Swanson who is stationed in Iraq and Kristine Ard.
Mr. Swanson was preced-ed in death by his wife Loretta Peterson Swanson, whom he married June 27, 1954, and who died Sep-tember 24, 1996; and two brothers: Carl and Stuart Swanson.
No services or visitation will be observed. Burial will be in the Holland Cemetery, Clymer, N.Y.
