Richard J. Rosentrater

Richard J. Rosentrater, 73, of 2066 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 22, 2009) in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.

He was born March 29, 1936 in Warren, Pa., the son of Robert L. and Lillian Leonard Rosentrater. He was a 1954 graduate of Jamestown High School, and served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 21, 1961 to Aug. 20, 1963.

Prior to retiring in 1985, he had been a firefighter with the Jamestown Fire Department for 22 years. Following his retirement, he had owned and operated a home improvement and repair business.

He was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. He was an avid collector of various types of memorabilia, including political items, license plates and hats.

He is survived by a brother, Robert L. (Patricia) Rosetrater Jr. of Atkinson, N.H.; a sister, Karen R. (Roger) Johnson of Falconer; three nephews: Robert L. Rosentrater III of Massachusetts, Michael Rosentrater of Georgia, and Scott Rosentrater of New Hampshire; and a niece, Stacey Uriarte of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Rosentrater.

There will be no funeral service or visitation.
