A Jamestown police officer who was attacked by a Maryland man early Wednesday morning has been released from WCA Hospital, although he will likely be out of work for a while.
Just before 3 a.m., police were dispatched to a reported fight on North Main Street and upon arrival, Jermaine J. Gordon, 21, allegedly attacked the officer, knocking him to the ground and punching him several times in the face before fleeing.
Gordon was found a short time later walking downtown and taken into custody. He is facing several charges, including felony assault on a police officer and was taken to the city jail awaiting arraignment.
A full report will be in Thursday's Post-Journal.
