Robert L. Leffingwell
Robert L. Leffingwell, 75, of Midland, Mich., died Tuesday evening, Oct. 27, 2009, at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Charles Clayton and Esther Marie (Fish) Leffingwell. On Sept. 17, 1955, he married the former Barbara Agy in Bay Village, Ohio. Robert had been a process engineer until his retirement at which time he and his wife owned and operated ''The Carriage Haus'' in Mayville, Wis. No one job described him, but he was defined by his family, friends, and his love of music. Robert had been very active in the theater including the Mid-land Center for the Arts. He belonged to The Men of Music and The Harbor Sounds Barbershop.
Robert is survived by his children: Lee (Kathleen) Leffingwell of Midland, Jonathan (Arlene) Leffingwell of Grand Rapids, Marty Brown of Howell, and Betsy (A.J.) Colburn of Richland Wash.; nine granddaughters: five grand-sons; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Jan (Dr. Ray) Shepardson of Champaign, Ill. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara on Aug. 11, 2007; and a son, Peter Curtis Leffingwell on May 7, 1981.
Funeral services for Robert will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland, Mich. Chaplain Roger Stauffer will officiate, with interment to follow in the Midland City Cemetery.
