Twila R. Kenyon, 75, of 8145 Old Route 17, Salamanca, New York, died early Saturday morning (September 19, 2009) at Olean General Hospital following a long illness.
Born on January 17, 1934, in Coldspring, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles Dorgan and Mary Halftown.
Mrs. Kenyon was employed with the Seneca Nation Health Clinic for more than 20 years as the medical receptionist. She had previously worked as a proof reader for Straigh Publishing, Little Valley, and the former Fancher Furniture Company.
She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Beaver Clan. She was a member of the Coldspring Longhouse, Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296 Ladies Auxiliary and the Seneca Nation Area Office of the Aging.
She was a former foster parent for the Seneca Na-tion Child Family Services. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed quilting, beadwork and sewing.
Surviving are six daughters: Cordelia (John) Bowen of Westfield; Sandra Kenyon of Jimersontown, N.Y., Norma Kenyon of Jimersontown, N.Y., Renae Halftown of Steamburg, Stephanee Halftown of Irving and Elana Halftown of Irving; a brother, Seth Halftown of Jimersontown, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Kenyon, three sisters: Susie Williams, Rogene Allen and Marcella Bowen; three brothers: Virgil Halftown, Forrest Halftown and Roger Halftown, and longtime companion David Miller.
Friends may call at the family home, 8145 Old Route 17, beginning Saturday evening.
The funeral service will be held Monday at the family home at 10 a.m. with Richard John, speaker of the Newtown Longhouse.
Burial will be in Memorial Heights, Jimersontown, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. funeral home, 25 River St., Salamanca, N.Y.
