Fluvanna Community Church Picnic Slated

An all-community picnic to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Fluvanna Community Church is set for this weekend.

The program. Celebrating Our Future, will begin on Friday with a Youth Night under the tent featuring the music of Special Delivery, a contemporary Christian band at 7 p.m. and will include a picnic, refreshments and, weather permitting, a bonfire. Youth pastor Chris Apperson invites all to attend.

Saturday's Community Days will begin at 1:30 p.m. Homemade pies to be judged will be accepted at Fluvanna Community Church at 1:30 p.m. There will be no charge to enter the pie contest and the community is invited to participate. Prizes will be awarded. County Executive Greg Edwards will be the honorary judge. All pies will be dessert after the meal.

During the afternoon there will be games, events and contests for all ages. The boys JIM (Jesus Is Mine) Club of America will be present.

The meals will be served at 3:30 p.m. and will feature: pig roast, burgers, hot dogs, and dishes to pass and pies. A $5 donation per plate will be accepted.

The Saturday evening program willbe from 6 to 7 p.m. in the sanctuary with music featuring Liberty University accomplished musician and television celebrity David Musselman from Forest, Va., in a sing along.

Topping the night under the tent at 7 p.m. will be a local barbershop quartet in a celebration of our past. The Blessed Word with Bill Spangler and Wayne Carroll, accompanied by Henry Tamutis will be the Singspiration to be followed by the lighting of luminaries.

Sunday morning worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Musselman, who will play piano and deliver the message for the morning. Terry Lind will be the guest soloist. The Blessed Word and Barbershop Quartet will also provide praise at the worship service.

All are welcome. Memorabilia will be available at all events.
