BEMUS POINT - The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department responded to two boating accidents over the weekend on Chautauqua Lake. The first occurred on Saturday when the Sheriff's Navigation Deputies responded to the Magnolia area of the lake. Police say upon arrival, navigation deputies made contact with the victim in the accident, who was tubing on the lake when he fell off. The victim said he attempted to return to the tube, but was unsuccessful. While trying to return to the tube, the victim's leg was pulled into a rotating propeller causing a laceration to the lower left of his leg. Ashville Fire Department was on the scene to administer emergency care to victim who was transported to WCA Hospital.

On Sunday, police report a boating accident on Chautauqua Lake with three people being injured. Police say a boat operated by Natalie S. Generalovich, 18, of Pittsburgh struck another boat operated by James W. Arndt, 61, of Willowick, Ohio. Police say Ms. Generalovich's vessel was pulling a tube and failed to observe Arndt's drifting vessel. Three individuals were taken to WCA Hospital where they were treated and released.
