George R. and June Elaine Smith of Ashville, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party on May 9, 2009, at Missionary Alliance Church in Frewsburg. The celebration was hosted by Deborah Smith and Nancy J. Schuyler. They are the parents of George Robert Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Deborah Smith and Michael Smith, both of Ashville, N.Y., and Stephen Smith of Port Alleghany, Pa. They also have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Out of state guests attended from Pennsylvania.
Smith and the former June Elaine Hallett were married May 9, 1959, in Ross Mills Church of God, Ross Mills, N.Y. The Rev. Fredrick B. Smith, father of the groom, performed the ceremony.
Smith is retired from Dahlstroms Manufacturing. Mrs. Smith is a retired minister from an independent Assembly of God Church in Port Alleghany, Pa., which she helped pioneer.
