JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

David Spunaugle, 33, of Jamestown was charged with petit larceny Wednesday night after he was allegedly caught putting merchandise into his pocket at the Rite Aid store in Brooklyn Square. Employees called the police and stopped him from leaving the store, and upon their arrival, Spunaugle was taken into custody. He was held overnight awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Patrick A. Carson, 21, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and having a loud exhaust system Thursday morning, following a traffic stop on Foote Avenue near Bush Street. Police say that around 2:37 a.m., they saw Carson speeding on East Second Street and when he was pulled over, an investigation allegedly revealed he was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and released on bail. He will be in Jamestown City Court later.

STOCKTON- Richard T. Sendall, 24, of Jamestown was charged with DWI, having an open container and moving from lane unsafely Wednesday, following an accident on Stockton-Cassadaga Road around 8 p.m. Deputies say Sendall was southbound when he lost control of his car and rolled it in a ditch. He said he swerved to miss a deer in the road, and along with a passenger were taken to local hospitals by Stockton and Cassadaga fire departments for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged and will appear in court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

DUNKIRK- Allan J. McQuiggan, 49, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree grand larceny and five counts of fraudently obtaining public assistance on Tuesday, following an investigation by the sheriff's department. Investigators say McQuiggan allegedly failed to report that he inherited a rental property, and therefore received $15,069.18 in benefits to which he was not entitled. He was given an appearance ticket and will be in court later.

SOUTHERN TIER REGIONAL DRUG TASK FORCE

DUNKIRK- Kathleen M. Rathmell, 44, of 717 Central Ave., Dunkirk, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Monday, concluding a three-month investigation into the sale of prescription drugs in Dunkirk. Investigators say Rathmell sold hydrocodone pills to undercover agents during the investigation, and an arrest warrant was eventually issued. She turned herself in Monday to Dunkirk Police, was arraigned in city court and sent to the county jail in lieu of bail. Additional charges may be coming, investigators say.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

James G. Jones, 30, of Westfield was taken into custody Wednesday for allegedly failing to update his registration as a sex offender. Police say he registered in Aug. 2008 with a Westfield address but officers learned that he had not lived at that address for at least 30 days, and missed the 10-day-deadline to update that information. He was arraigned and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail where he is being held without bail.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE

POLAND- Derek W. Abbey, 37, of Kennedy was charged with DWI on Thursday following a traffic stop on Stone Road in Poland. He was taken into custody and held awaiting arraignment.

DAYTON- Joan I. Bedelyon, 65, of South dayton was charged with assault with criminal negligence on Wednesday, following an incident at noon on Mosher Road. She was given an appearance ticket and will be in court later.

STOCKTON- Lisa M. Mislin, 27, of Tonawanda was charged with petit larceny Tuesday, following an investigation into an incident that took place on Sept. 1, 2008. She is currently incarcerated on separate charges in the Erie County Holding Center, and will appear in local court later.

WARREN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Steven Wagner, 25, of Warren, Pa., was charged with two counts of issuing a bad check Tuesday, after an investigation into bad checks totaling $140.78 which were written out to Crone's Drug Store from a closed account in Nov. 2008.

Roni M Hunter, 33, of Warren, Pa., was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after she was allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation outside her residence which awoke her neighbors.

David W Champlin, 35, of Youngsville, Pa., was charged with public drunkenness on Wednesday after he was found passed out behind the Market Street Plaza.

PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE

CONEWANGO TOWNSHIP- Conewango Township police responded to a hit and run at 6:45 p.m. on May 14 in the Wal-Mart parking lot. According to police, a woman reported that another vehicle hit the rear quarter panel of her Mercury Mountaineer SUV. Police said a note was left on the vehicle, but they were unable to confirm the provided information. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Connewango Township Police at 814-726-0725.

CORRY- LauraLee Groves, of Corry, Pa., was charged with driving under the influence Wednesday, after police responded to a one-car accident around 9 a.m. Police say she was driving eastbound on Route 4006 when her vehicle drifted off the north side of the road, struck a mailbox, went into a ditch and became stuck. Groves walked from the scene, was picked up and taken to a residence, according to police, who said Groves will face summary charges and a charge of DUI.

WARREN- Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver of a vehicle that caused another to run into the Dairy Queen sign on Route 6 last Saturday. Around 6:05 p.m., a white Oldsmobile Alero pulled out of the Dairy Queen parking lot on Route 6 into the path of a 2003 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Aaron J. Cool, 20, of Pittsfield, Pa. Cool then made evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision and turned his vehicle in a northerly direction, traveling 90 feet off the north berm finally striking the Dairy Queen sign. The driver of the Alero failed to stop and continued east on Route 6, and anyone who can identify the above vehicle is asked to call the Pennsylvania State Police at 814-728-3600 or Warren County Crime Stoppers at 800-83-CRIME.
