With more than a foot of snow falling on the area overnight, several institutions closed for the day Friday while others canceled a slew of events and services.
The Chautauqua County Inclement Weather Policy is in effect for county employees today, as announced by County Executive Greg Edwards at 6:30 a.m.
The following organizations suspended service or canceled events:
* Community Helping Hands
* Meals on Wheels in the Jamestown area: No deliveries today.
* South Congregate Meal Sites closed.
* St. Susans Center
* St. Luke's thrift shop is closed today
* Lakewood Memorial Library
* The girls' basketball game between Cassadaga Valley and Frewsburg has been canceled.
* Prelude Strings rehearsal at Loyalton of Lakewood is canceled
* Ellery Senior Citizens meeting at St. Timothy's is canceled
* J.S.S.A. Union Meeting Scheduled for Saturday at JHS is canceled
* Frewsburg Reachout Ministries After-School Program is canceled
* Christian Science Reading Room is canceled
* Boys & Girls club of Jamestown's afternoon swimming class in canceled
* The Ashville fire Dept. has canceled bingo tonight
* Infinity Performing Arts lessons are canceled tonight, but the Cafe is not
*Chautauqua Lake Central School has canceled all after-school and evening activities
