Joan M. Stone

GOWANDA - Joan M. Stone, 76, of Markhams Wesley Road, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Millard Filmore Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

She was born April 25, 1932, in Alden, N.Y., the daughter of the late Erwin A. and Laura (Duttweiler) Pinkel.

Joan was a retired homemaker and helper on the Way-Mar Farm, where she and her husband worked for many years.

She was a member of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, feeding the birds, letter writing, sending cards and riding the Honda Gold Wing Motor cycle with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Carlton W. Stone, whom she married in the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Buffalo, N.Y., on June 9, 1951, of Gowanda, N.Y., four daughters: Linda M. (Jeffrey) Roselle of Chesapeake, Va., Betsy A. (Robert) Klimczak of Trinity, Fla., Mary Lou (Gary) Jones Gowanda, N.Y., and Wanda J. Stone of Florida; her grandchildren: Sean T. Klimczak, Carrie B. Klimczak, Kevin W. Jones, Brian T. Jones, Jason M. Schmittendorf, Adrienne R. (Schmittendorf) Cabal, Stephen J. Roselle, 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marion L. Partridge of Leola, Pa.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur I. Pinkel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at South Dayton Free Methodist Church, Pine Street, South Dayton. The Rev. Troy Bassett, pastor, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery in the Town of Dayton.

Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, S. Dayton, N.Y., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
