Elizabeth R. ''Betty'' Roach Olofson, 84, formerly of 1463 Route 394, Falconer and Bergquist Manor, left this earth and descended into eternal rest at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2008) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center..
She was the widow of Gail M. Olofson, whom she married Oct. 10, 1969 in Levant Wesleyan Church and who died April 18, 2004.
A lifelong area resident, she was born April 19, 1924, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Walter Henry and Jesse Brundell Roach.
Betty was a 1942 graduate of Falconer High School, and was employed by Hope's Architectural for 46 years, retiring in 1989.
Betty was a lifelong member of the Levant Wesleyan Church and possessed a strong Christian faith that was established as a young child. She and her husband had served in many church leadership positions and Sunday school positions. She also was co-director of the senior citizens of the church and also served on the Levant Cemetery Society.
She enjoyed traveling along with her husband to the Holy Land, Egypt, British Isles, Hawaii as well as Canada and throughout the United States.
Surviving are two brothers: Robert (Mildred) Roach of Jamestown and Maurice (Doris) Roach of Falconer; three nephews: Stephen (Linda) Roach of Sheridan, N.Y., Douglas Roach of Colorado Springs, Colo., and James (Judith) Roach of Mayville; two nieces: Patricia Roach (Steven) Sandberg and Susan Roach (James) Vincent, all of Jamestown.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father in 1948; her mother in 1982; and a niece, Janice Roach Otto in 1987.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Levant Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Howard Garver and the Rev. Willard G. Steele, will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
