The Post-Journal

Recently, the Senator Catharine Young Wellness Center ribbon was cut and residents of Tanglewood Manor Inc. now have an important tool to maintain their health.

The health and wellness center was created specifically to help residents get fit and stay active with state-of-the-art equipment that is designed to cater to senior needs, as well as make it easy for them to utilize.

The health and wellness center will be staffed by certified personal trainers Tina Sardo and Nancy White. Sardo is well known in the community for her continued commitment to fitness. She is presently teaching varied fitness class at Jamestown Community College, is an instructor at the Busti-Lakewood Rec Center for seniors, and has been with the Jamestown Fitness Center and the Jamestown YMCA in the past as their fitness and aerobic coordinator. White was the Wellness Coordinator at the Rockwood Retirement Community in Spokane, Wash., and has received specialty dementia training for caregivers. The recently opened Senator Catharine Young Wellness Center caters to the needs of seniors, encouraging and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle in the group.

The health and wellness center was completed with the assistance of a grant obtained by Sen. Catharine Young. Nicholas Ferreri, owner of Tanglewood Manor Inc. named the facility in honor of her and the commitment she shows to seniors in the community.

Tanglewood Manor and Memory Garden residents, as well as clients of Comfort Today, will have access to the equipment and the expertise of two certified personal trainers during varied hours five days a week. In an effort to also promote employee health and wellness, employees are able to utilize the center before and after scheduled training sessions for residents.
