Emma C. Overturf

Emma C. Overturf, 89, of Kimball Dr., Jamestown, died Sunday, Aug. 31, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Greenhurst.

Born May 25, 1919, in Weedville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Baker Shutters. A Chautauqua County resident most of her life, she had attended Five Points School in Gardiner Hill, Pa.

Emma had worked at several area factories and stores, including Malleable Iron, American Manufacturing, Steel Partitions, Big N, Peterson's Agway, and she also worked in antiques.

She was a member of the Gerry United Methodist Church, Gerry Grange 412 and a member and volunteer driver for the Sinclairville 76ers.

Emma loved her fiends and family and will always be remembered for her hugs.

She was the wife of 68 years to the late Roy B. Overturf, whom she married May 20, 1937, and who died February 11, 2005; was the mother of Larry (Loretta) Overturf of Gerry, Simon (Lynn) Overturf of Canyon Lake, Calif., Mary Knepshield of Greenhurst and the late Darlene Porche; grandmother of 11 and the late Dottie Porche; great-grandmother of 20; great-great-grandmother of one; sister of the late Alice Wheeler, Mary Merideth, David, Charlie and Simon Shutters.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Gerry Hill Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
