Richard Fay Stacey

MAYVILLE - Richard Fay Stacey, 76, of Mayville-Sherman Road, Mayville, died Thursday (July 17, 2008) in St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa.

He was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Mayville, to the late William and Bessie Chapman Stacey. He had been a custodian for the Brocton Central School.

Richard was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Mayville, where he was a current trustee at the church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Irynne Hashiba Stacey, whom he married Jan. 8, 1980 in Greenville, S.C.; four children: Sharon (William) Alexander of Lagrange, N.C., Gary Fay (Judy) Stacey of Appomattox, Va., Pastor Kenneth Alfred (Debbie) Stacey of Westmoreland, Tenn., and Victoria L. (Dan) Potts of Paducah, Ky; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Shirley Sherman of Mayville, Frances (Ron) Raynor of Mayville, and Betty (Pat) Lucariello of Bemus Point.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother, Bessie Stacey Burgess; and a son, David Stacey.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Mon-day in the Maranatha Bap-tist Church in Mayville. Pas-tor Kenneth Stacey, his son, and Pastor Norman Burdick, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral in the church.

Memorials may be made to the Maranatha Baptist Church, 43 Academy Street, Mayville, NY 14757.

The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements.
