POSTED: June 20, 2008
The Downtown Jamestown Development Corp. and the Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series Committee are inviting all area marching bands to participate in the 2008 13-year-old Babe Ruth World Series Parade.
The World Series will be held in Jamestown from Aug. 16-23 at Russell E. Diethrick Park. The series headquarters will be stationed in the DJDC lobby.
Kicking off the series will be a parade held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Line up will begin at 8 a.m. on Porter Avenue and will travel east on Third Street to Tracy Plaza. The Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series Committee will contribute to each participating marching band’s organization.
All visiting teams will be provided a float decorated by local businesses, organizations and community volunteers. Area businesses and organizations are also encouraged to participate in the parade. Anyone wishing to donate decorations or help decorate is asked to contact the DJDC.
‘‘This will be my first World Series and I am looking forward to it. I have heard that it is very exciting and the kids have a great time while they are here,’’ said Tiffani Reynolds, DJDC special projects manager. ‘‘I’m going to make sure that DJDC and the World Series Committee provide a fantastic parade for all to enjoy.’’
To register, call the DJDC at 664-2477 or visit www.discoverjamestown.com.
