Fire at NYC Macy's flagship store

October 26, 2013
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Fire Department says in posts from its verified Twitter account that there is a second alarm blaze at the Macy's flagship Herald Square store in Manhattan.

The FDNY did not respond to repeated calls Friday. The FDNY Twitter posts say the fire is in the basement of the iconic department store on 34th Street.

A spokeswoman for Macy's said the fire department was on the scene of a "fire situation" but had no other details.

The well-known department store has over 1 million square feet of retail space.
