The Common Core Building Should Be Condemned

February 2, 2014

“I see the Common Core as a set of standards that everyone agrees would be smart for us to implement,” wrote superintendent Mains (Dec. 22, 2014). Whoa, Mr....

Stop the insanity! Common Core doesn't even have resources for history. How can you posters even presume to think that the Common Core is teaching erroneous history. McKenzie doesn't know the first thing about it. The only subjects involved with Common Core are Math (purely logical with no history element) and ELA (writing from articles and works of fiction). Look at THE resource for schools at engageny dot org You will not find a single instance of teaching history incorrectly, nor will you find any instances of "brainwashing" the masses. You can do the research yourself. If you do in fact find some instance of this, do us a favor and direct us to the issue. Otherwise, you're just wasting your effort to stop something that isn't even being done. Please use fact, not some hair brained notion about what you believe to be the case.

Most of the curriculum is not the math, science or history that you learned. It ignores historical records of what really happened.

Common Core allows for the government controlled school curricula to fill the children's head full of erroneous information, from American History to Global warming in order to indoctrinate them. Once indoctrinated, the government(progressives) have good little brown-shirt foot soldiers.

I have listened to Dr. Nelson's blather for a number of years, and continue to see a common theme. She consistently fails to see the bright line between a goal and a plan of action to achieve the goal. The Common Core is the goal. The curricula put in place to achieve that goal is the action plan. Unfortunately, Dr. Nelson has consistently demonstrated what is either an inability or an unwillingness to recognize that significant difference.

I understand and appreciate that her accumulated knowledge with respect to the appropriateness of the Common Core likely exceeds mine. I am disapponted that, once again, she cannot communicate her knowledge in a manner that helps me to actually understand her concerns.

MB (to borrow from loner), your criticisms are once again just your opinion which are fine because you are entitled to one, but why should I believe it? You call her piece "gobbledegook." That's your opinion. How was it so? She went into detail how this Common Core agenda is simply a new fad lacking the credibility of making students college ready. The examples she provided back up her point, like silly picture drawing for upper classmen. That is not an activity associated with classic education which truly prepared students for college.

AHHH here we have nothing. CCS are precisely that standards not a CURRICULUM. If your looking for curricula look locally or at the CCS website. Here we have derogatory comments about CCS and our new Superintendent because this Grand Educator of The Republic knows all. I FIND THIS LETTER OF NO VALUE AT ALL.

Educaneese is much adobo about nothing. It has no meaning. Never has never will. Yet the public keeps buying into it. Good comment Ms.Nelson.
